YUMA, Ariz. – A suspicious luggage type bag was found at the Yuma Main Library Tuesday morning causing the public building to close its doors for about 40 minutes.
Yuma Police Department (YPD) officials say the bag was found on a bike rack locked to a bicycle.
A Marine Corps Air Station Yuma K-9 team arrived with a bomb sniffing dog to check out the bag and determined that it was not a threat, according to YPD.
The original report sent by YPD said that Yuma Catholic High School and Gary Knox Elementary School were both on lock down during the incident. However, they later reported that the schools were told to “shelter in place”, and were not on lock down.
Officials say they found clothing and other personal items inside the bag but it is unknown who it belongs to.
The bag was placed into safe keeping at the Yuma Police Department.
