YUMA, Ariz. – Expect higher gas prices for the Labor Day weekend. Triple-A Arizona officials said Thursday that the average statewide price for unleaded regular gasoline is $2.10 per gallon, that’s up
by almost 4 cents from last week. This week’s national average is $2.22 per gallon, up by more than 2
cents from last week. For Arizona the current average cost of a gallon of gas is $2.10, this time last year was $2.55 per gallon. For Yuma specifically we are coming in above the state average at $2.15 per gallon, just a week ago the average was $2.08 but this time last year was much higher at $2.66 per gallon. Tucson currently has Arizona’s lowest average gasoline price at $1.94 a gallon and Flagstaff the highest at $2.36.
Despite the recent price increases, Triple-A analysts expect Arizona drivers will pay the lowest Labor Day holiday gas prices in more than a decade. Residents we spoke to a Yuma gas station seemed indifferent about the 10 year low or the increase that has been seen in the past week.
South Carolina has the lowest average gas price among states in the continental U.S. at $1.96 a gallon and California has the highest at $2.68.
