YUMA, Ariz. – A frightening situation for shoppers at a Yuma shopping center over the weekend. The Yuma Fire Department says a woman driver crashed into the window of the 99 Cent Store on 4th Avenue in Yuma Saturday evening. The incident happened just after 5 p.m. As seen in images of the accident, the window took most of the impact and the car did not make it all the way inside the store.
We spoke to a store manager that was there at the time who says he believes the woman hit the gas instead of stepping on the break. He says the driver was not injured at all and that no one else suffered any injuries. As of Monday the window at the store has been boarded up, it is not clear when the store will fix all of the damage. Store management tells us the crash did not have a major impact on business over the weekend.
