YUMA, Ariz. – Police are looking for a man who hit a gas pump at a Chevron gas station resulting in $7,500 dollars worth of damage and fled the scene.

Lori Franklin, with the Yuma Police Department (YPD) said, “We can see off the video is was like a four door newer model Chevy pick-up possibly a 1500, enter the Chevron on 500 east 32nd from 32nd Street the west side of Arizona Avenue.”

Franklin adds, “The suspect took a wide turn then clipped a gas pump. the driver stopped, walked around the vehicle, got back into the vehicle then went into the Chevron to purchase something and left without telling anyone what happened.”

Franklin gives us a description of what the man looked like.

“Possibly a white male. somewhere between 5’8″ – 5’10” possibly. Medium built, late 20s early 30s short hair cut and a 5 o’clock shadow type beard,” Franklin said.

YPD wants to remind everyone that if you cause damage or hit something with your vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident is a crime and an even bigger crime if you injure someone while doing it.

Franklin adds, “Pay for the damages. Whatever damage you caused to the building it’s going to come back to the public anyways because they’re going to have to pay for it. They’re going to raise prices because they need to pay for the stuff that was damaged. So be honest, come forward and report your accidents.”
