
WELLTON, Ariz. – The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office said a dog is in stable condition after suffering two gunshot wounds.
Deputies said Thursday at approximately 10:41 a.m., a tan female canine (possibly a Sheppard mix) was found in the area of Avenue 32 E and Palomas Road in Wellton with two gunshot wounds. She was alive and transported to the Humane Society of Yuma by the County Animal Control where she underwent surgery.
The canine was not wearing a collar and did not have a microchip implant. The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident as an animal cruelty case and is seeking the public’s assistance in trying to locate the dog’s owner.
