YUMA, Ariz. – New details were released today stating Gila Vista Junior High teacher, Christopher Knoles, allegedly asked a former student of his, who is only 15 years old, for nude photos of her on social media.
The incident occurred on New Year’s Eve and a report with the Yuma Police Department (YPD) was filed which lead to an investigation. Sergeant Lori Franklin with YPD says, “Because of his solicitation of wanting nude photos, that’s when they came in made the report and that’s what sparked an investigation.”
The investigation took a little less than a month to conduct. Police worked with Yuma School District One in a extensive investigation before arresting Knoles on Wednesday. “We work with the schools in order to look at different records, look at histories, were there any prior complaints,” said Franklin.
Knoles will face a judge on Friday and is held on a $50,000 bond. He is currently on administrative leave from Gila Vista and is not fired. The school says they want to wait until the court date before making any final decisions.
