YUMA, Ariz.-
One of the murals painted at the new advocacy center for Amberly’s Place honors a fallen police officer Jon Coutchie.
The Executive Director of Amberly’s Place Diane Umphress says when picking a picture off the internet to do the mural she picked Coutchies, not knowing he had Yuma ties.
Coutchie a Laguna Beach Police Officer was buried in Yuma, where his grandparents lived.
His family gathered on Friday to see the mural of their late son, nephew and friend.
His family says he always wanted to help children and that knowing his mural could give children comfort would make him smile.
“I think its fitting that Jon be in a position to be looked up to in a sense and through his spirit provide protection to the children. He would be smiling,” Father Robert Coutchie said.
