Busy holiday weekend in Yuma for Border Patrol

YUMA, Ariz. – Eighteen undocumented immigrants were arrested over the holiday weekend and more than 430 pounds of marijuana were seized.

U.S. Border Patrol agents say the first incident happened near Tacna last Friday. A group of four Mexican men and one Honduran man came into the U.S. illegally with 246 pounds of pot. All five suspects were arrested.

The second incident also happened near Tacna on Saturday when agents found six Mexican men illegally entering Yuma County. All six suspects were arrested.

Sunday, agents arrested another group of undocumented immigrants. This time, seven men walking into the U.S. with about 186 pounds of marijuana. All seven suspects were arrested.

Agents say they were able to make all of the arrests an seizures with help from Air and Marine Operations, Yuma Air Branch.

Some of the men arrested have prior run-ins with the law including: assault, child abuse, theft, rape, weapons and drug charges, according to agents.

The street value of the drugs seized over the three day weekend was more than $200,000.
