YUMA, Ariz.- Martin Luther King Jr. will honored tomorrow in Yuma.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Yuma will be honoring Dr.King on  Monday. John “Bud”Johnson, a member of NAACP says it is important to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. “His intention was to bring the world closer together to make sure that we understood each other communicate and the freedoms that he established for black people are still important today”.
 Dr. Geneva Robinson Darcuiel, is the official key note speaker for tomorrows march and says what Martin Luther King fought for in the 1950’s still impacts today’s struggles of injustice. “Today, there is still injustice going on it might look different, but actually the foundation in still the same,”said Darcuiel. “It is still based on a us verses them mentality.” Darcuiel, continues to connect the international refugee crises, “black lives matter”and sexual assault attacks against woman with the civil rights movement in the 1950’s that Dr. King most famously took a stand.
The march will begin at, Union Missionary Baptist Church and will end at the Martin Luther King Neighborhood center, located on the corner of 3rd street and 13th Avenue in Yuma. The event will start at 1 PM. After the march and service, southern barbecue ribs and chicken will be served, for $7.00 a plate.
