YUMA, Ariz- Over the weekend at almost midnight on Saturday officers responded to a call at the 200 East Mesquite St. for criminal damage.
Upon arrival officers were able to talk with one victim who reported that they had their window shot out by a bb gun. The victim did not have any suspect information and officers found three vehicles in the area with windows that were shot out with a bb gun.
Nearby residents say they had no clue this took place on their street.
One nearby neighbor says, “I’ve been running this group home for the past 3 years I want to say and has never had any issues. Either with the neighbors or the kids doing any criminal activity or anything like that.”
On December 6th officers with the Yuma Police Department responded to 17 similar calls of vehicles with windows shot out with a bb gun in different areas.
YPD responded to five calls in the 1000 block of 8th Ave along with several others within a five mile radius.
Surveillance cameras at one of the scenes observed a white older model four door sedan with multiple subjects in the area at the time of the incident.
One Yuma residents said he didn’t know there was anything going on around his neighborhood, “No I haven’t seen anybody get their windows shot at or anything like that but there’s always been tagging going on around here but that’s mainly about it. Our windows haven’t been shot, thank god.”
He adds, “It’s very surprising its a low key neighborhood and what not so it just sucks that somebody would have to ruin the fun for everybody else and do stuff like that.”
