YUMA,Ariz. – An insurance company collected locks of hair for the eighth year in a row to make wigs for those fighting cancer.

Sheltra Insurance is holding their annual “Cut for the Cause” this October. The hair cutting event requires participants to cut at least eight to 12 inches of their hair to provide wigs for cancer patients. Jessie Sheltra, has donated her locks before and encourages those with long hair or short hair to be apart of the fight against cancer.

“I’ve done it three times and it’s a great cause. Now we also include people who have shorter hair who want to participate, absolutely, we want to include them. What they can do, is provide a minimum of a $20 donation, which goes directly to the cancer resource center, so all the money stays local.  They can get cleaned up by one of our stylists, so they can participate as well”, says Sheltra.

This year they are expanding in different ways on how participants can give back in those who need the help.

“We’re also going to include a bone marrow screening. This is also our first year, we’re very excited about this, the American Red Cross is going to have a blood drive.  We’re very excited about that”, says Sheltra.

The Sheltra Insurance strongly encourages volunteers or stylist to help out by signing up early for this event. You can click here for more information or contact Jessie Sheltra at (928) 317-1212.
