YUMA, Ariz. – Both the San Luis Sidewinders and the Cibola Lady Raiders volleyball programs are striving to get to the level of section contender. Both teams were hoping to take that next step on Tuesday night.
The first two sets proved to be highly contested, as both were separated by a mere two points when each of them were played out. After Cibola took the first set, the Lady Raiders extended their lead to 15-7 before the Sidewinders pulled a rally to eventually tie the score at 24-24 late in the set.
But thanks to a couple of key kill shots by Kylee Lakey, the Lady Raiders would get the close set win and then close the door on San Luis in the third. Both Lakey and Sarah Gill came away with 10 kills in the entire match.
Lady Raiders earn their first section win of the season; 25-23, 26-24 and 25-19.
