Busy week for Border Patrol

YUMA, Ariz. – U.S. Border Patrol agents made four arrests, seized drugs, guns and counterfeit money late last week in two separate incidents.

The first set of arrests were made after agents noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from a car at a gas station in Blythe, Thursday. Agents say the confronted two men in the car and then searched the car. They found three pounds of pot, two hand guns and 23 fake $100 bills.

The second set of arrests were made Friday after a K-9 team alerted a car at the Highway 95 checkpoint. Agents say they searched the car in secondary inspection, but found nothing. It was later they discovered both men, who were in the car, were hiding 13 pounds of cocaine in their waistbands, according to agents. They also found a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue hidden in one of the men’s sock. Both men were lawful permanent residents.

Agents say all of the drugs combined had an estimated street value of about $145,000.
