YUMA, Ariz. – Seven men were arrested suspected of smuggling hundreds of pounds of marijuana into the U.S.
U.S. Border Patrol agents say the group was first seen carrying backpacks with the use of night-vision goggles near Sentinel early Sunday morning.
Agents say they requested support from Air and Marine Operation (AMO) Yuma Air Branch pilots in order to keep track of the group. The men were then seen placing the backpacks by a tree and walking towards Interstate 8.
AMO led agents to the backpacks and to the men who were about 100 yards north of the drugs.
The men, who were all undocumented immigrants, were arrested.
The pot had an estimated street value of about $155,000, according to agents.
