YUMA, Ariz. – Goodwill Career Center is working to get job seekers connected with local employers.
On Wednesday, they hosted a career festival giving locals an opportunity to meet employers throughout the community.
“We’ve seen over 300 job seekers come in and here in this room your seeing the employers. We have 25 employers on site today to speak to people who are looking for work,” Goodwill Career Center Employer Experience Partner Rebecca Drabent said.
Since the agriculture season ended Drabent says a lot more people have been looking for work, but not to worry, she says there are still plenty of jobs out there.
“Administrative jobs, restaurant jobs, law enforcement jobs, fitness jobs, care giving,” said Drabent.
From Border Patrol, to Chipolte, to the Cocopah Indian Tribe, many employers are just looking for someone willing to work.
“We have opportunities within our multiple enterprises and our government sector. We’re looking for able bodied people that want to work. The tribe offers opportunity for those who are willing to take advantage of it,” Cocopah Indian Tribe Human Resources Director Matthew Smith said.
The Cocopah Tribe is looking to hire more than 20 individuals and other companies that attended the festival are looking to hire even as much as 300 people.
“It’s wonderful I see a lot of work organizations and companies represented. I think it’s good for the community and I’m really impressed,” job seeker Jeremy Russel Said.
Russell is one of many taking advantage of this year’s career festival but those who missed the event don’t need to worry. Goodwill officials say anyone can still head down to the Goodwill Career Center and apply.
