GADSDEN, Ariz. – Five people were injured after the car they were in crashed into a haystack causing significant damage to the car.
Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department officials say the crash happened near County 18th and Avenue I close to 4 a.m. Friday. Fire crews say a witness stopped at the scene moments after the incident and told officials the group was coming back from a night club in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora.
Fire officials say a 19-year-old woman suffered a broken hip, while two other 19-year-old girls complained of pain in their legs and chest. The other two people who were in the car were 21 and 20 years old, both complained of back pain. All five people were taken to YRMC via ambulance.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the crash. The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
