YUMA, Ariz. – Thirty-two schools between Yuma and Imperial counties raised more than $15,000 through one of McDonald’s charity programs in February.
School principals and teachers “worked” at the local fast food locations as part of McTeacher’s Night. They greeted customers and worked registers. As part of the fund raiser a portion of the money made during the event will benefit all 32 schools.
Families, students and school supporters tipped school staff, who worked for periods of two hours, helping the fund raiser.
O.C. Johnson Elementary and Yuma Lutheran tied to win the Yuma challenge, while Phil D. Swing Elementary won the Imperial Valley Challenge by raising the most money. The three schools received an additional $1,000 from the local franchise owners for winning the challenge in their individual counties.
