
YUMA, Ariz. – 19 year-old Jose Sorto, one of two day laborers accused of murdering 27-year-old Honduran national, Emmanuel Alvarenga-Navarette appeared in court today.
Officials say Navarette’s body was found on 9 1/4 E and Highway 95 about two month with gun shot wounds.
The prosecution is still working on a plea deal for Sorto, but that’s expected when he’s back to court April 13th.
24-year old Francisco Hernandez is also a suspect in this case.

YUMA, Ariz. – Two day laborers are both being accused of murdering 27-year-old Emmanuel Alvarenga-Navarette a day laborer.
Navarette’s body was found with multiple gun shot wounds near 9 1/4 E and Highway 95 about a month ago.
Sorto, 19, was arrested Tuesday, February 9th. The prosecutor says he has a witness who watched Sorto fire a gun.
“The state expects what will be introduced involves that a third party witness sees this defendant holding the gun and three shots were fired at the residence,” Prosecution Attorney William Katz said.
Sorto appeared in court Thursday pleading not guilty to charges of first degree murder and kidnapping. His defense attorney did not contest bond. His next court appearance is scheduled February 19th.
Francisco Hernandezm, 24, is also suspected of being connected to the murder. He is facing one count of first degree murder, one count of kidnapping, and one count of conspiracy to commit murder. He is being held without bond. Hernandez will be back in court February 17.
