YUMA,- Ariz.
Today the Yuma City Council approved for a study to be done to see if moving the County fair to a different location is a good idea. The study will cost $400,000 and half of the money has already been offered by the federal government.
The talk of moving the fair started about two years ago because of how close it is to the Marine Corps Air Strip. Officials say there is a lot of air traffic above the fair grounds and it could be hazardous for attendees.
Now, just because the study is being done does not mean that the fair is going to move locations. The manager for Yuma County Fair Eric Wofford says they want to see what the study finds first before making any major decisions about moving.
Wofford also says that the county fair and MCAS have always had a great relationship since the base and fair both opened up in 1953. He says they are open to the idea of moving, but really like the location they are at right now.
