YUMA, Ariz.- Agriculture tractor accidents are getting more common with more than four in the last two months.

A Somerton man is now in a Phoenix hospital receiving neurological treatment after crashing into a stalled tractor Thursday morning on Highway 95. The medic who first arrived on scene says the driver of the van couldn’t even remember the accident.

“The damage to the vehicle was significant. There was approximately 2-feet of intrusion with positive airbag deployment. We believe the patient was injured severely enough to loose consciousness momentarily and he had no memory of the incident. We treated it as it was a level one trauma,” EMT Jim Radzik said.

Since agriculture is a big part of Yuma County ag-vehicles are forced to share the road with regular traffic.

“This year it seems to be an increase. We run into four or five of them and also including tractor and worker accidents,” said De Anda.

The Somerton Police Department were at the scene of the accident, they say no one involved has been cited at this time.

“There was one injury who was the driver of the van. The driver of the tractor, he was OK on scene. We’re still investigating the accident,” Somerton Police Lieutenant Michelle Magana said.

Magana says she hopes any witnesses who saw what happened come forward to help her piece the incident together.
