
YUMA, Ariz.-
19-year old Jose Sorto and 24-year-old Francisco Hernandez both day laborers are both being accused of murdering 27-year-old Emmanuel Alvarenga-Navarette a day laborer.
Navarette’s body was found with multiple gun shot wounds near 9 and a 1/4 E and Highway 95 about a month ago.
Sorto was arrested Tuesday, February 9th. The prosecutor says he has a witness who watched Sorto fire a gun.
“The state expects what will be introduced involves that a third party witness sees this defendant holding the gun and three shots were fired at the residence,” Prosecution attorney William Katz said.
Sorto appeared in court Thursday pleading not guilty to charges of first degree murder and kidnapping. His defense attorney did not contest bond. He will appear in court on February 19th.
Hernandez is facing one count of first degree murder, one count of kidnapping, and one count of conspiracy to commit murder. He is being held without bond. Hernandez will be back in court February 17.
