YUMA, Ariz.- The Yuma Jaycee’s Silver Spur Rodeo events are kicking off this weekend. The club will start this weekend by finding the new Rodeo Queen at the Elks Lodge in Yuma. The event is already sold out, but people can still get tickets for the Rodeo Valentines weekend.
The girls that are competing will have some big boots to fill as the former titleholder for Yuma, Alan Hamilton won Miss Rodeo Arizona. Hamilton, is currently an active Marine station at Marine Corp Air Station Yuma and is a competes in Rodeos through-out the State. The last Rodeo Queen from Yuma to take the state title was Audrey Hall who won in 2011.

Nicole Burton is our current 2015 Silver Spur Rodeo Queen.
Makaila Yablonski is our current 2015 Silver Spur Rodeo Teen Queen.

QUEEN CONTESTANTS:
Amberly Hardt- 19 year old daughter of Trae Hardt and April Taylor. She works at MCAS as a Access Control Guard in the AV-8B Harrier Simulator. Amberly plans to attend college at AWC in the early spring to pursue her life ambition of working with animals in the field of Animal Science and Agriculture.
Shelby Everett-is the 19 year old daughter of Marc and Shelly Everett. Shelby currently works at Quality Rehab Network but plans to attend college in the fall of 2016 in Colorado to learn how to raise bucking bulls.
TEEN QUEEN CONTESTANT
Megan Hardt- is the 17 year old daughter of Trae Hardt and April Taylor. She is a junior at Cibola High School. After graduation, Megan plans to pursue her education in animal science.
Although running unopposed, Megan will still have to have a certain amount of points in order to take the Teen Queen title.
Silver Spur Pageant is being held at the ELKS Lodge this Saturday at noon. This event is sold out. However, Friday, February 5th, 2016 the Horsemanship portion of he competition will be held at 9 PM Whispering Horse Ranch across from MCAS. This event is free and open to the public.
Winners of the contest will be announced on Saturday, February 13th, 2016 at the rodeo performance, at the fairgrounds, at the 4 pm performance. Gates open at 2 pm.
