YUMA, Ariz. – Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot said he’s ready to ask the public for their vote once again.
Wilmot has filed his interest and is seeking re-election as Yuma County Sheriff. If he wins during the November 8, 2016 general election this will be Sheriff Wilmot’s second term in office.
“The reason I want to run for sheriff is to continue to provide quality to the community,” said Wilmot.
He said the focus on remaining fiscally aware locally will continue as much of the federal and state financial burden has been placed on counties. Wilmot said he has no interest in leaving Yuma County to seek an office in politics, although he said he will do the “politicking” for elections.
“I will do the politicking part for the election portion, but my bottom line is I want to continue serving our community.”
Wilmot currently serves on a professional level on a long list of other local, state, and national organizations.
“We all play in the same sandbox together and we do it really well, but we do it because we have ownership in this community and that’s the bottom line.”
