15-year-old Victor Sanchez is dead after being shot off of 17th Avenue in Yuma. Police have declared the shooting a homicide. Sanchez was shot on Saturday and taken to a Phoenix hospital. He was pronounced dead on Wednesday.

“It’s gotta stop somewhere. There’s got to be somebody out there whose willing to give some information,” Yuma Police Department Spokeswoman Lori Franklin said.

Police say the shooting was gang related. It’s the second gang related shooting in Yuma in a month.

“We had two young kids get shot a couple weeks ago and now we’ve got a 15-year-old whose lost his life,” Franklin said.

Franklin’s referring to when two children were shot of of James drive and 24th street. Both children survived but were in critical condition.

The Yuma Union High School district has declined to comment on Sanchez’s death. Neighbors say the shots fired Saturday night woke them up.

“I was laying in bed when I heard about two shots because I was sleeping and couldn’t hear much,” Alberto said.

We asked if the neighborhood seemed un-safe now.

“No because we’ve never experienced that before,” Alberto said.

The case is still under investigations as Y.P.D. continues to search for suspects.

A car wash is set for Saturday, January 16th at the Taco Bell on 4th Avenue. All of the proceeds from the car wash will go to the Sanchez family for funeral arrangements.
