YUMA, Ariz. – A man wanted for a fatal shooting that took place in Denton, Texas on New Year’s Eve was arrested Tuesday morning at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma.

Eric Jamal Johnson appeared in court Tuesday afternoon, the same day he was arrested.
A Yuma County judge ordered no bail, no bond.
If Johnson waives his extradition rights, he could be held at Yuma County Detention Center 30 to 45 days. However, if he decides to fight any extradition he could be held in Yuma County for 90 days, in which case the governor of Texas would need to issue a warrant requesting extradition from Arizona.
It is unknown if Johnson has legal representation.

Eric Jamal Johnson was booked in the Yuma County Jail Tuesday afternoon. He is making his court appearance, where he will learn if he is waiving his extradition rights.

Denton Police officials say Eric Jamal Johnson along with other passengers shouted sexually derogatory remarks at Sara Mutschlechner and her passengers while driving. Eventually both cars came to an intersection where the shooting happened.
Investigators found the gray Honda Pilot Johnson was driving with the help of surveillance video and now have that car in custody.
Officers say they were able to zero in on Johnson’s location at MCAS Yuma by tracking social media outlets.
The people who were in the car with him during the shooting are also persons of interest according to Denton Police.
Johnson does not have any prior incidents with law enforcement.
The weapon used during the shooting has not be recovered.

The U.S. Marshalls arrested Corporal Eric Jamal Johnson in connection to the shooting death of 20-year-old Sara Mutschlechner.
According to Captain Jose Negrete, Johnson is an active Marine stationed at MCAS Yuma assigned to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron-1.
Mutschlechner was a student at the University of North Texas.
Denton Police Department officials say they are still piecing together the shooting.
MCAS officials say Johnson has not been booked to Yuma County Jail.
