YUMA, Ariz.
It’s a situation we broke for you in November. A Yuma city council member accusing the deputy mayor of assault.
Now the Yuma County attorney’s office has dropped the assault charges against Deputy Mayor Edward Thomas according to Yuma Council Member Gary Wright who filed the charges.
It stems from a council meeting back in October when Wright says he was discussing a topic on the agenda and Thomas allegedly got out of his seat and started yelling profanities at wright.
Wright says another council member had to restrain Thomas. After an investigation the Yuma county attorney’s office has dropped charges of assault for Thomas.
Council member Wright gave us his reaction.
“I forgive Edward Thomas for what has happened but I’m more focused on what we’re going to do in the future and having positive relationships on council where this doesn’t happen again,” Wright said.
Check back with us tomorrow. We’ll have an interview with council member Thomas to get his side of the story and how he’s moving forward.
