YUMA, Ariz- Fry’s Food and Drug Store in the Foothills adpoted a family from The Healing Journey this Thanksgiving. APS Yuma also raised $400 for The Healing Journey and are able feed 30 families holiday season.
Fry’s Cashier, Susan Kersten, “We’re sponsoring a family through the healing journey with a meal and a gift card for thanksgiving. we collected money throughout the employees in our store and we were able to provide turkey, ham…everything that goes along with that meal and a gift card for that family.”
Estrella says a little help goes a long way because these families have been through a lot of pain.
Fitch adds, “It was a family that’s from Somerton and has been struggling a lot. They’ve had one of their children go through horrific child abuse and they’re together and they’re going together as a family. They’re reaching that survival mode so we wanted to give them something and when Fry’s reached out to us and said do you have a family we can adopt, and we said yes we do. We have one in Somerton and we said ok we got this. So they’re getting a turkey plus a gift certificate to buy some things that they might need for the children.”
Kersten says Fry’s they plan on helping The Healing Journey year long.
Kersten adds, “It’s really important to our store out there in the Foothills we will be partnering up with the Healing Journey for the year in any event that they do to just get our name out there and helping people.”
